Terpolymerization kinetics of amino acid N-carboxy anhydrides
Based on their versatility with respect to amino acid type and sequence, polypeptides have become attractive for a number of biological applications such as drug delivery, biomineralization, and drugs. N-carboxy anhydride (NCA) polymerization is a convenient way to rapidly prepare high-molecular weight polypeptides with good control over molecular weight and polydispersity. However, the kinetic...
متن کاملHydrothermal Syntheses of Amino Acid- Montmorillonites and Ammonium-micas
-An attempt has been made to synthesize nitrogenous clay minerals hydrothermally from silicaalumina gels in the presence of amino acids, namely glycine and lysine, The products have been characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, by analyses for C and N contents, and by their infrared spectra. Amino acid-montmorillonites have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions of 200-250~ and 1000 atm....
متن کاملSynthesis of polypeptides by ring-opening polymerization of α-amino acid N-carboxyanhydrides.
This chapter summarizes methods for the synthesis of polypeptides by ring-opening polymerization. Traditional and recently improved methods used to polymerize α-amino acid N-carboxyanhydrides (NCAs) for the synthesis of homopolypeptides are described. Use of these methods and strategies for the preparation of block copolypeptides and side-chain-functionalized polypeptides are also presented, as...
متن کاملSynthesis of fatty acid anhydrides by reaction with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide.
A simple method is described for the preparation of caprylic, palmitic, stearic, and oleic anhydrides. Reaction of the free fatty acid and dicyclohexylcarbodiimide in carbon tetrachloride at room temperature gives the corresponding anhydrides in high yield (87-94%).
متن کاملIdentification of polypeptides on two-dimensional electrophoresis gels by amino acid composition.
We present a method that can, in principle, provide tentative identification of a substantial proportion of the polypeptides resolvable on a given two-dimensional electrophoresis gel. Computerized microdensitometry of autoradiograms from 20 gels labeled in turn with each of the 20 common amino acids provides the data for simultaneously measuring the amino acid composition of all polypeptides of...
